Math Talks: Speaking Mathematics Builds Understanding (K – 8)

Description: In this course, teachers will learn questioning techniques and ways to promote mathematical conversation. They will practice the art of listening to students and encourage students to listen to each other for better mathematical understanding.
Expected Outcome for Teachers: Teachers will identify key questions to ask their students to encourage mathematical discourse.
Expected Outcome for Students: Students will develop a better understanding of mathematics and mathematical relationships.
Next Generation Learning Standards to be addressed: Mathematical Practices 3 – Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
Dates: Thursdays October 13th, 2022

Time: 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Location: MWD Library
Credit: 5 hours equals ½ in-service credit
or
Stipend: 1 hr. = $45.
