Course: MTC #102-20 Mindfulness for Malverne Teachers and Students
Instructor: Jason Mach (Teachers) and Kenny Zagare (Students)
Description: The course will be broken up into two sessions. Session One will cover how mindfulness will help you. Teachers must take care of themselves before they can attend to their students’ needs. Also included in Session One will be neuroscientific aspects, history, and research. Session Two will consist of activities that teachers can readily use with their students when they return to their classrooms.
Expected Outcome for Teachers: Teachers will have the foundation and skills necessary to build their own practice and share with students.
Expected Outcome for Students: Students will be exposed to stress reduction and other mindfulness-based activities.
Next Generation Learning Standards to be addressed: Aligned with NYS SEL Benchmarks
Date: Wednesdays October 23rd (Jason Mach), October 30th (Kenny Zagare)
Time: 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Location: Malverne High School Library
Credit: 5 hours equals ½ in-service credit
or
Stipend: 1 hr. = $45.
*NOTE: PROVIDED FUNDING IS AVAILABLE AND PENDING THE APPROVAL OF THE POLICY BOARD, A SECOND STIPEND MAY BE AWARDED BASED ON TIME-STAMPED REGISTRATIONS.
IN ORDER TO RECEIVE CREDIT, EVIDENCE OF COMPLETED WORK MUST BE PROVIDED TO THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR.
