Creating NGSS-Aligned Lessons for Elementary Classrooms (K – 5)
Instructor: Derek Gerardi
Description: Participants will develop a hands-on science lesson using the three-dimensional approach to science learning. Participants will become comfortable with science and engineering practices, cross-cutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas of their respective grades.
Expected Outcome for Teachers: Teachers will be able to develop a lesson that employs all three dimensions of science learning.
Expected Outcome for Students: Students will apply a science/engineering practice and disciplinary core idea to describe phenomena within the context of the cross-cutting concepts.
Next Generation Learning Standards to be addressed: NGSS K – 5 Science Standards
Dates: Wednesdays November 2nd, 2022
November 9th, 2022
Time: 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Location: HTH Room 309
Credit: 5 hours equals ½ in-service credit
or
Stipend: 1 hr. = $45.
