Course: MTC #108-23 Supporting ELLs through the Use of Teacher-Friendly Translation Apps (K – 12)

Description: Google Translate is just one of the apps available to teachers and ELLs for quick and easy translations. There are several other teacher- and student-friendly apps to help enhance and supplement an ELL’s language development both in school and at home.
Expected Outcome for Teachers: Teachers will become familiar with the use of Google Translate to translate whole documents and incorporate them into OneNote. Teachers will also become familiar with other language-learning apps that students will be able to use both in school and at home.
Expected Outcome for Students: ELLs at the Entering, Emerging, and Transitioning levels will benefit most from being able to supplement their language learning outside of school and enrich it while in school. These learners in turn may become more motivated to learn their new language.
Next Generation Learning Standards to be addressed: Speaking and Listening Anchor Standard 5; Language Anchor Standards 1, 4, and 6
Dates: Tuesdays November 29th, 2022
December 6th, 2022
Time: 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Location: HTH Room 113
Credit: 5 hours equals ½ in-service credit
or
Stipend: 1 hr. = $45.
