Malverne Teacher Center 2022-2023
Course: MTC #109-23 Creating a Happy, Healthy, and Mindful New Year: As the Apple Drops, So Can the Stress Level in Your Classroom
(K – 12)
Instructor: Jason Mach
Description: A new year is a time to make resolutions. The best ones are those that you may be able to keep. There is no better way to create resolutions for your classroom that will benefit students long after they leave you.
Expected Outcome for Teachers: To celebrate the start of 2023, we will encounter hands-on, student-focused activities that can be used in your classroom immediately, with little or no prep to start your students on the path to a calmer and more focused new year. We will model and workshop the following (and more): check-ins, emotional regulation activities, meditation styles, manipulatives, props, affirmations, and movement.
Expected Outcome for Students: All activities are designed to help students to focus, arrive, and reduce stress in and out of school.
Next Generation Learning Standards to be addressed: CASEL SEL Framework
