Course: MTC #106-18 Higher Order Thinking and Questioning Techniques

Expected Outcomes for Teachers: Teachers will be exposed to models, tools and strategies that are aimed at strengthening their own questioning skills. Teachers will be provided with opportunities to critique their own lessons and to modify the essential questions that steer those same lessons. Teachers will learn how to use several apps that allow students to answer questions and to participate in educational discourse on a virtual platform.
Expected Outcomes for Students: Teachers who consistently challenge their students with higher-order questions create enriching and meaningful lessons for their students. Students exposed to the “right” questions on a consistent basis will become independent thinkers and adept problem-solvers.
Dates: Wednesdays March 7th, March 14th
Time: 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.
Location: HTH Library
Credit: 5 hrs. = ½ in-service credit
or
Stipend: 1 hr. = $45.
*NOTE: As there are a limited number of stipends ($45/hour) available, teachers will only be allowed to apply for one stipend. Stipends will be on a first-come, first served basis, with priority given to teachers at Masters Level 75.
